Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Commissioners’ Court approved the Professional Services Agreement with Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) to be extended through June 30, 2024.
Last year, Austin Pets Alive! entered an agreement with Hays County to manage the development of a new Pet Resource Center. The center would aim to provide programs focused on public safety, animal safety and lifesaving, pet owner resources for happy and healthier pets, and community education for safe and humane pet care.
The planning phase began in April 2023, a one-year agreement, to develop recommendations for a location, budget, policies, and operations of the Pet Resource Center. APA! presented these final recommendations and operations plan to the Court on Tuesday.
“We are very grateful to Austin Pets Alive! for the detailed work and extensive community outreach efforts they have done in this first year,” said Ruben Becerra, Hays County Judge. “It is an important partnership for us to continue, and we look forward to the next phase of work to better support our Hays County community.”
Austin Pets Alive! will continue as the project coordinator for the Pet Resource Center and provide new deliverables for the next three-month period including continued marketing and community outreach efforts and operations of the virtual pet resource center program.
